| Dripping water (vertical falling drops) shall have no harmful effect. | Using a water dripping test apparatus, drip water for 10 minutes.
| Vertically dripping water shall have no harmful effect when the equipment is at an angle up to 15° from its normal position. | Using a water dripping test apparatus, drip water on the equipment tilted by 15°. 4 positions, 2.5 minutes each.
| Water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60° from the vertical shall have no harmful effect. | Using the test apparatus shown right, spray water to the equipment at any angle up to 60°. 1 minute per 1 m² of surface area. At least 5 minutes in total.
| Water splashing against the component from any direction shall have harmful effect. | Using the test apparatus shown right, splash water from any direction. 1 minute per 1 m² of surface area. At least 5 minutes in total.
| Water projected by a nozzle against the equipment in any direction shall have no harmful effects. | Using the test apparatus shown right, apply water jet in any direction. 1 minute per 1 m² of surface area. At least 3 minutes in total.
| Water projected in powerful jets against the equipment from any direction shall have no harmful effect. | Using the test apparatus shown right, apply water jet in any direction. 1 minute per 1 m² of surface area. At least 3 minutes in total.
| Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the equipment is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time. | Equipment up to 850 mm in height: Submerge it in a tank of 1 m in depth for 30 minutes. Equipment more than 850 mm in height: Submerge it in water for 30 minutes. Make sure the water depth to the top of the equipment is more than 150 mm.
| Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the equipment is continuously immersed in water under the conditions severer than those of rating 7. | To be determined through discussion between manufacturer and user. |
